How do "attention seekers" behave?

So, I'm trying to write something, and I want one of the girls in it to be an attention seeker...

My character isn't too bad, but she is irritating. She feels she needs the attention of men to validate her worth.

How do attention seekers behave? I'm not one, and all the girls in my school are really nice. What sort of things would she too? Talk a lot?

Any examples you can give me would be great. Thanks.

  1. Attention seekers usually misbehave purposefully to receive the attention that they are denied by others.  For instance, if someone, such as a child, is ignored at home and is denied the love of his mother, then he will often purposefully misbehave in school so that he is in trouble with both his teacher and mother.  Even though both are angry at him, and he is most likely going to get punished, he reasons that at least he is getting noticed.  As the attention seeker grows older, they will began to talk about controversial subjects, such as making fun of homosexuals, or constantly raving over politics, calling people names or being verbally abusive just to try and gain the attention of anyone who happens to be paying attention.  They may also act in an unacceptable manner sexually.  This includes revealing themselves to others, or talking frequently about sexual topics around people that they don't know or are not well acquainted with.

I hope this answered your question.  If you have any others just e mail me.

  2. you don't have to be a bad person to be  an attention seeker...usually they are playfull and flirty...good sense of humor..and like to make people laugh...if she is meant  to be irritating then it could be another character is jealous and wishes she could be the same

  3. No! on the contrary I think not all "attention seekers" do it in the negative way....

There is this girl in my work place...she's the biggest attention seeker EVER....as she is constantly talking about how guys just "fall for her" and making it obvious to everyone (the way she flirts with any man !! LMAO)....she DRESSES up in a way to seek attention like really small shorts/ skirts (ewww) and  over it a TON of make-up......and then TON of perfume (that a person from 1km away can smell it)...........heaps of jewelry.........and then laughing very LOUD at even the most absurd things...

Now thats a classic attention seeking girl for you....i find her irritating (not cuz she's mean but she's so full of herself....ewW)

    hope it helped

*the 1st answer indicated someone as a BULLY and not necessarily an attention seeker*
