RC's run off of many sources of energy. They are remotely controlled and run off of:

- Electricity

- Gas

- Nitro

- Wind

However many conversions like wind...

Are being fiddled with so it's unlimited with the choices you can do!

Anyway,

Gas and Nitro burn the gas/nitro in the fuel tank to gain speed. The engine size/etc will = top speed/MPG (lol).

Anyway,

Electric and wind power are also different.

Wind runs off of powering a fan with wind sending electricity to the motor.

Electric uses batteries.

well it depend on what type of rc car cause there are 3 types

electric rc cars:off road and on road

nitro rc cars:off road and on road

gas rc gars: off road

electric cars work with a reciver and one electric engine for move it and another one for the direction

nitro cars work wiht a nitromethane engine some use two servos that are like electri engines for acelerate and brake and another one for the direction and other car use another one when it has  diferents speeds

gas cars are almost like nitro but they use another engine with normal gas

The radio systems are quite sophisticated.    The transmitter(or controller) turns the mechanical movements of steering wheel and throttle trigger into a radio signal sent through the airwaves.     The receiver in the car then translates those signals into electronic signals that tell the servos or speed control when, which direction, and how much to move.  

  The result is a radio controlled vehicle.  

  The more expensive systems and the cheap junk you get at Wal-Mart all work off the same principle.
