  1. I'm a christian and we celebrate the birth of a child by having the baby baptized at church

  2. Jews celebrate the birth of a son at his Bris, which is 8 days after he is born, and is when he's circumsized and welcomed into the family and into the community.

A daughter typically gets a Naming Ceremony (unless the parents are Orthodox), where she is welcomed into the family and community (no circ, obviously).

Many Christian denominations have infant baptism, including Catholics and Orthodox.  (Others believe only in adult baptism)
