The year my credit card item first became "delinquent" was back in 1995. I don't have any records for the "exact date" but I am for certain of this. How then would I get this item removed because it is showing that this was first reported 5/2008 under a collection agency's name....this is a blatant lie... The account keeps getting sold over and over under new names.

This debt was from when I was a kid. I have other bills to pay and I am paying them on time, but why this allowed to happen? This supposed 7 years law isn't being followed why are these not acknowleged? Please help what can I do?

  1. Send a dispute to the credit bureau.  Specifically indicate that the item is beyond the reporting period and that the collection agency is illegally re-aging the item.

Send the collection agency a certified, return receipt letter request validation of the debt to include the name of the original creditor, date of first deficiency, date of last payment, and copies of contracts or other documentation that proves this is your debt.  Give them 30 days.

If the collection agency actually does validate, you can use their info to dispute with the credit bureau.

If this doesn't get this cleared off your file, contact the Attorney General for your state.  There are some really slimy zombie collection agencies out there that violate all the rules.

  2. Send the CA a request for validation and dispute the TL with the CRA.  But to be honest.... 7 years doesn't mean you don't still owe the debt and that they still can't attempt to collect...

  3. Call them and tell them to remove the listing, citing the intial delinquency. Send the same thing to the credit reporting agency. They will remove it.

  4. follow credit bureaguidelines for removing erroneous item be persistent
