How do republicans feel about their candidate trying to distance himself from the GOP ?

Thats just plain BS. If McCain wanted to distanced himself he would have became an Independent.

McCain has a reputation for reaching over party lines.  He is known for being a moderate and doesn't stick staunchly to the Republican label attached to his name.  (He just happens to agree moreso with Reps than Dems).  Although I do not affiliate myself with either party, (I happen to be conservative independent)... I am very happy to see McCain sticking by his beliefs and trying to shake up Washington for the greater good.  Republicans & Dems alike have both strayed from the true meaning of what it means to serve this country; instead they serve their own interests.  McCain is genuine and realizes that the bad reputation on both sides of the aisle needs to be cleaned up.  If anything, McCain is not distancing himself from the GOP at all...  It is the other republicans which have done so. (Not all of them, but a handful).  George Washington was right when he said that a party system would ruin our government & public liberty, but that's another discussion of itself.

I believe he referred to the American people and not political parties.  You know the Democratic party was a conservative party during WWII thank God.  Now they are socialists that grew up in the late 60's and early 70's when drugs became popular.  John McCain has called for American Unity.  Perhaps the RINO is a baloon that is leaking air?  Is the RINO against Unity?  Better grow up friend or someone is going to start telling you what to do and then it will be too late.
