Question:

How do restaurants keep the smoke from spreading to the non smoking area?

I heard it was because of the ceiling fan, but I am not sure. The reason why I ask was because I want to know how I can keep the smoke from my mom's room from spreading all over the house. She doesn't always shut her door. My door is shut, but the smell is still strong.

  1. Some companies sell smoke removers to resturants and other businesses,,,, they suction up the polluted air and either filter it or send it outside by a vent

  2. You would have to have an exhaust fan in her room.Still may be able to smell it anyway though.

  3. exhaust hood

  4. The truth is there is no way to keep smoke from moving inside and between rooms. Well, you might install a decontamination chamber between her room and the rest of the house, but other than that: The only way to protect you from being poisoned is letting her smoke outside.

Oh, and btw: Restaurants don't keep smoke from spreading. It's just that they don't care.

  5. Most restaurants have a very expensive ventilation system that removes smoke quickly. Some are $10,000 and up.

If you have an exhaust fan in your bathroom, turn it on. That will help, or open a window if you have one and direct the smoke outside.

I have heard twirling a wet towel in the air helps remove some smoke and then spray a disinfectant like Lysol spray.

  6. If you draw air from the rest of the house into the smoking room you will lessen the smell.  But in public places where they have smoking and nonsmoking areas they have a very efficient filter or they dump the air from the smoking area outside.  Something you are not likely to be able to do in your home.  You might ask her if it would be okay for you to close her door when you notice it.  You might also check the air/heater vent when you first smell it, you could be getting the smoke through the ventilation system.  In that case just shut the vent.  I hope the day is not too hot.

  7. Sadie I feel sorry for you that you don't smoke and have to put up with that stinky c**p.  Pouring a bucket of water on the while they smoke usually works.  Plead with her to do that garbage outside.  Bye!!

  8. I recommend to separate the rooms for smokers and non-smokers. I think the problem is solved.

  9. They dont.. its more to separate  ppl so they dont blow smoke right into someone that doesnt smoke. but most states are all smoke free now, anyways. so it doesnt really matter.
