I'm sure they lift weights, but weightlifters don't have legs like that.

  1. Exercise..yes..and I think its also got something to do with the tackling and driving forward they have to do

  2. They do lots of weights and because they run around alot. Also they use their legs a lot to support the rest of their body.

  3. They do leg exercises like squats, leg presses, etc.  The reason most rugby players appear to have bigger legs than weight lifters, is most weight lifters will try to develop their muscles so they are consistent throughout their body.  For instance, if they add 1 inch to the chest, they add 1 inch to the legs, arms, etc.  This may produce an optical illusion that the legs are not as big.

A reason why rugby legs are bigger is rugby players depend a lot more on their legs.  They do more work in a game then any other muscle tehy have.  This is due to running, tackling, being tackled, in a ruck and maul (if your code), jumping in line out (if your code), scrums, etc.

Basically, the legs do a lot more work, therefore the bigger they are, the better they are.

  4. Cycling? I don't know but running and all that will definetely tone the muscles in your leg
