  1. These tires contain an extra lining within the tire that self-seals when something like a small hole punctures it, such as a nail or s***w. In this way, the loss of air is prevented from the outset so that the tire is either permanently self-repairing or at least loses air very slowly.

    There are also a number of retro-fitted tire sealants which act in a similar way to self-sealing tires. These compounds are normally injected through the tire valve. The rotating force then distributes the compound onto the inner surface of the tire to act as a self-sealing lining within the tire.


  2. A run-flat tire improves on standard tires by adding a special supporting sidewall structure that allows the tire to make it to the nearest service station completely devoid of any air pressure.

  3. There is no self sealing glue in them, they run flat for a short period because of the reinforced sidewall and strengthened tyre design.
