I live in a middle class family; I have a brother who is 29 and went to a school for heating & cooling, not college - my sister who is 28 went to Villa Maria College and then dropped out - and my other sister who is 25, works at an insurance company, but didn't go to college. My parents also didn't go to college but they both have good jobs. My parents didn't start a college fund for me, and won't now, and there is no way that I'm not going to college. I want to go to college to become a teacher of grades K-12; I'm not sure which grade yet. I will be entering 10th grade this September, and I live in Buffalo. I plan to go to Buffalo State College, but I don't know how scholarships work, and if I get one what school do I have to go to, and I'm so confused. Please help me? If I didn't give enough information, please e-mail me. ( Also, I am an Honor student, if grades are a big part of scholarships. )

  1. Scholarships are a grant/aid to help students with their tuition. Since you are in 10th grade in high school, you would learn more about scholarships from your counselor when you are a Junior or a Senior. Does your school list some scholarships that Senior could apply for? I know my high school did.

And yes, you would need to have good grades with a good GPA like a 3.0 or higher.

When you are a Senior, you would have to take SAT or ACT.

    Good luck.
