How do scientists and doctors discover things?

Is it b/c they take risks or what?

Scientists keep on diffusing substances and gases which leads to the formation of new ones.These are then tested ,redone and brought into account; hence, a discovery is made.Same with doctors, only the difference is that they use medicinery.yes, sometimes they risk their lives as the mixture might be reactive.

They are not discovering things. They are inventing things. If it is the case of things. Okay.

They probably have some ideas and thoughts in the mind. and they will keep on working with that idea. By doing many experiments and work outs. So finally they will find something.

While doing 100 failure experiments, they are only learning things. Even Edison also had done more than 1000 Experiments to invent Electric Bulb. After the invention of bulb Edison said that I was not failed in those 1000 Experiments, I learned that 1000 items was not suitable as a filament in the bulb.

Usually it stems from an inquisitive mind. They ask why something is, how something works, etc, and want to find out. Rather than accept the existence of things, they want to know who, what, when, where, why, or things.
