Question:

How do seedless grape varieties propagate?

I realise these are created via selective breeding, but surely farmers must at some point plant the vines that grow them, so how do they do it?

  1. It might come as a surprise to you but very rarely do vines propagate via seeds but rather by cuttings or "sleeping".

So you do not really need any seeds at all...

  2. Grafts from an existing seedless vine to a normal vine grown from seed.

All seedless varieties must be grafted.

  3. The grower has to propagate the varietals through cuttings and graftings.
