I know that they are responsible for killing animals, because many animals get stuck in them and die...and obviously many beach-goers just leave their litter at the beach, but what about six pack plastic rings that are thrown in the garbage and arrive at a landfill? How do those end up in the ocean?

  1. people throw them off their boats.

  2. From the man not fishing who stands drunking near wooden fire.

  3. either people leave them by th eshore and the waves take them in and or lazy people leave them on the ground and wind blows tehm in and or people throw them in

  4. I think birds at landfills sometimes pick things off the ground and unfortunately transport it away from the landfill.  Also, wind might play a role as well.

  5. Most plastics in general that end up in the ocean are either left on or near the beach, become airborne and get carried to the water, are washed from streets into storm drains or come from a car, garbage truck, boat whatever.

  6. on trash barges or people throwing them out instead of cutting the rings on them so animals will not get caught in them
