  1. some Australian native plants cannot germinate unless the seeds are partially burned so they germinate after bush fires.

    Many burnt gum trees can regenerate new stems from deep inside their trunks, this is unusual as the stems usually grow from the tips elongating


  2. Many Eucalypts possess epicormal buds on the trunk which regenarate if foliage is burnt. Other species have lignotubers; woody, underground roots which also regenerate after fire.
