Question:

How do spells work? (Serious question for pagan/witches)?

I am alittle hesitate to write this question. I just know a guy at work who did a spell that changed his reputation (he had a past criminal record and people treated him badly). It worked like wonder, just he doesn't want to tell me how he got that spell.

I feel funny writing this down, but I'm begining to think the spell was casted on everyone.

Can anybody tell me, how spells really work?? (serious question for pagan/witches)

  1. What Epona and Chances6 said.

You are basically focusing energy and directing it to your purpose.  Your intent.  What they didn't say is that all ethical spells end with a  statement asking that the Greater Good be served and that No Harm result from this spell work.

  2. Magick is the science and art of causing change in conformity with will.  ~Aleister Crowley

Magick has rules and structure, like science.  They are not moral codes, but conditions that allow magick to occur. ~Christopher Penczak

Spell work is not something you can just do you need to follow some basic form.  You can find books that discuss this sites on the web, but if you really want to practice magick you need to have a firm intent and the willingness to study and practice.  Yes it does work and if you send out "curses" and spells that interfere with others free will you will get the smack down sooner or later.  You always have to take responsibility for your actions, you pay now or you pay later.  This guy was doing a spell on himself so he's all good.  You can do whatever magick on yourself as you want.  A spell to be attractive, charismatic, wealthy, etc.  You cannot make so-and-so love you or make those folks follow your lead, because you are doing magick on others without their permission.  Hope this explains some of your question.  Blessed be.

  3. Spells, or any magik for that matter, only work if a person BELIEVES it. One person cannot actually put a spell on another, but if the person knowns that someone is doing such and believes in spells then this is what would make anything happen, not the spell itself.

Some people require ritual-magic in order to enact their mental energy, but it really all comes down to that... the power of the mind.

  4. it's all physiological. if you set your mind to do something, or for something to happen, it will eventually. some people misinterpret good fortune as magic because the actuality of what could have happened intertwines with what they hoped or wished to happen.

  5. Spells and magick is a way to focus energy.

During the casting energy is raised, perhaps by dancing, perhaps by singing, or playing an instrument, or meditating. And the casting of the circle itself raises energy.

Then, the spell is spoken as a way to focus that energy to the direct purpose. In this case, changing his reputation.

Spells work the same as prayer - they guide energy to enact change. The difference is, prayers assume the Deity in question is bringing the change about - where as spells assume the energy itself, perhaps aided by a Deity, make the change.

Now, chances are the spell didn't erase his criminal record, or remove it from his file - instead it just made it more likely that people would skip that part when reading his file, or skim past it, or just ignore it.

  6. A spell is basically the energy sent out during a state of mind ( generally during a ritual). By the guy wanting and believing he could turn his reputation around he succeeded.

  7. There is know such thing about spells.

  8. Greetings!

"spell": to write down a series of characters which are imbued with Magickal Intent.

"how spells really work" can not be told, for several reasons.

Let`s say, some moron got educated in "how" but not "why". Bad things might come of it.

The same logic applies to learning how to use a gun-one goes to a class, one applies for a permit, one does practice with other people, one learns it is bad to get angry and, let`s say: shoots someone in the nether regions to "teach `em a lesson!"

Spells CAN be dangerous! You DO realise that "spells" are common? They are used everyday, as Oaths, Promises, Prayers, and, while many do not see the effect, it exists!

So, while many consider spells to be invalid, still, they become worried when THEY are the target. One way to rationalise the effect, is to say: "Wish in one hand, and s.... in the other, and see which one fills up first!"-but the same people will be the first in line to throw stones at "Witches".

If your co-worker made a "spell" to be treated better, and some of it got on you, ask him to include a "no harm to others" clause, as Spells are a process that can be altered.

    Good Luck with that!

  9. there are some wiccan websites that you can go to and ask this question and they could help you out better with this. i am just getting started and would hate to tell you wrong!

  10. Everyone is missing the boat about what he did. The spell was cast on no one but himself. The change to the persona he projects inspires confidence and trust in those that encounter him now. Think about it. We all know people who just seem to have an attitude they project that makes us want to stay away from them, and likewise, there are those you just gravitate towards. This doesn't occur because these people are directly casting a spell on YOU, they project positiveness about THEMSELVES. Their energy is focused to to achieve the goal of appearing positive, which is the basis for spellwork. No one is being duped here.

  11. belief

  12. I think also what you are asking is how do you be sure to either negate or not come under the effect of his spell..

easiest simplest way is to imagine yourself encased in brilliant white light... starting at your heart centre then growing outwards till its like egg shaped covering ur whole body...

its almost impossible to counteract his spell tho without casting the opposite evil on him which is a bad move anyway...

darn good spell then! they are not easy to do!

  13. The most effective spells are the ones cast upon one's self, to seek some internal change.  Spells to eliminate jealousy, for example, or to increase confidence, are usually very effective, in my opinion.  Healinjg spells, too, have been very effective in my experience.

If your suspicions are correct, then your coworker might have used a manipulative spell, which I consider unethical, but on the other hand, it's possible he cast a spell on himself to increase his empathy, confidence, and/or resourcefulness, which would tend to overcome people's bad opinion of him without manipulating them.

  14. There are no such things as "spells", so to

    speak.

    Working with metaphysical forces doesn't

have anything to do with the sort of thing that

you described. It's not just something that

anyone can do, by saying the right words

and lighting a black candle. He may have

lied to you about a "spell" or maybe he

    really believes it...but he's wrong.

I would say there are other factors at work

here, some you may not be aware of. He may

have done some outreach to people, in terms

of having a talk with them privately. Who knows.

I say forget about spells, be glad things are

going well for people around you, and get on

with the day to day affairs of life.

    Many Blessings,

    Jean
