How do squids swim around?

do they swim in the direction their heads are pointing or the direction their tales are pointing.

  1. Squid are the fighter jets among the cephalopods. Driven by the cephalopods' well known propulsion by pressing water from their pallial cavity, squid move backwards through the water like a rocket. Squid almost exclusively move that way. The jet's direction (and thus the direction of the movement) can be changed by altering the sipho's angle.

  4. they swim in the direction their heads are pointing when they are swimming fast. I think they can go either way and definitely turn around when they are trying to catch prey..

  5. they have a propulsion system and 2 fins that wave back and forth. they are like a ufo. they can change direction instantly. they can even change their color! they actually kind of flex or something and it changes the bloodflow in their skin...or something like that. check out these videos. i was amazed.
