How do stateless people become a country?

There is a difference between a nation and a country,

but how does a nation become a country??

A nation and a country are the same thing.  You become this in several ways. We did it by telling England's king a letter of declaring our independance.  We told him we were no longer an English colony and were now our own nation.  We then fought the revolutionary war.  

Texas was both a country and a state. It was part of Mexico when it declared its independance.  Texas then declared its independance from Mexico and became its own country.  Then Texas  decided to join the United states and changed from country to a state.
