I have a 3 month old yorkie and he is very mouthy.. Whenever we try to play with him he bites. Not in an agressive manor but in a playful manor but his teeth are getting pretty sharp and the pains is becoming unbearable. is there any methods that will stop this before it becomes a real problem?

  1. Puppy's go through a stage of biting. Say NO in a mean voice, close his mouth and give him several chew toys or something you want him to chew on. Not a shoe or anything like that.

    Good Luck!

  2. Provide chewing toys for him. Every time he puts his mouth on your hands, you need to make a yelp sound. It will startle him. When done, ignore him for a few seconds then resume play. If it becomes constant, leave and give a time out.

  3. There are a few things you can do.

One thing is when your puppy nips at you, you can squeal like you just got really hurt and the dog will stop because he will understand that it hurts you.

Another thing you can do is actually spray them with water. This worked with my dog when she nipped at me and it got really bad. It worked really well. She calmed down right away. It's not abusive or anything and it doesn't hurt them. It just reminds them that if they do that, they will get a bit wet.

Good luck and remember, she will get out of this habit eventually!

  4. spray your hands with icky yellow Listerine mouthwash, and they won't taste good to him - he'll soon find something else to chomp on.

  5. Use a shock collar from a local pet shop

    works every time

  6. If your dog tries to bite stand up if you are on the ground say sternly ah ah but short. Make sure you hold your finger where your head is when saying it. After that just walk away but don't look at him. When he calms down come back and praise him. If he starts to jump at you turn around so your back is toward him. Then praise him when he is calmed down. It is very good to show your dog that good behaver gets praised and bad behaver means that no more playing. It would also be good to get your dog some chew toys because he could be teething.

  7. well, i've had tht kind of problem b4. normally, i just put up with it, but if its rly becomgin a problem, buy him a lot of chew toys. and if he like 2 play with ur hands, try wearing garden gloves. get a lot of rawhide, my yorkie loves tht stuff :D
