  1. they can see the wall with goggles or look at the flags for]back

  2. Well u for the backstroke those flags that hang off the ceiling are there to mark the end of the pool  For the freestyle ur head must be at a slight angle.  U will see the end of the pool.

  3. they wear goggles.. They are able to see where the end is.

  4. If they are swimming on their belly (freestyle, backstroke, butterfly), they just see the end (and there's a cross or a T on the bottom of the pool telling them that the end is near). Swimmers don't put their whole head into the water, just so that the forhead, above the eyes, reaches out.

If they are swimming on their backs, there is a string (usually with flags) close to the end of the pool. When practicing, a swimmer count the number of pulls (arm motions) it takes for him/her to reach the end. When competing, they just count these strokes and then flip-turn. You are also allowed to look back in backstroke.

    Hope I helped:)

  5. because they train in the atlantic ocean where its mostly gasoline water. so they know when the water is close to the wall or surface.

  6. Usually they can just see the wall is coming up.  If not, they have done it so many times, they know when they're getting close.

  7. Kara,

There are many tools to help the swimmer spot the end of the pool.

1.) There are targets on the wall (a big '+') that's very visible.

2.) There are lines at the bottom of the pool that ends in a big 'T' just before the wall.

3.) The backstroke flags at each end of the pool are situated 5 meters from the wall (every pool uses this same measurement so swimmers don't need to change their stroke counts when swimming backstroke races).

4.) Swimmers usually wear goggles to see under water but can still see without them.

    I hope this helps.

    Enjoy!

  8. when they see the flags near the finish line they count their strokes before and and say it was 6 strokes then they count 6 strokes and then they are at the finish mark its a really simple but risky task this is for backstoke though

  9. wow.

    wow.

    they can see. with goggles.

and if its a 400 meter race.... its eight laps

if its a 100 meter race.... two laps

    each lap is 50 meters.

not that hard to count too.
