How do taxi services work in Guadalajara?

Can I call a service and have them pick me up, drop me off anywhere in the city; like in the US. Or do they run like other cabs in MX where they go in a big random circle, picking up alot of people (kind of like a bus almost)

-Can I hire a professional driver to drive me around all day? How much would that cost? Or are the cab services good?

  1. if you u pick a random taxi they can for sure take you wherever you want and will be fairly cheap,,, if you want one from a company ( that you can schedule ) it will NOT be as cheap,, but still affordable compared to those in the US

  2. You can't afford a taxi all day.  There are millions, just ask the price first and they will differ until you know the prices.  You could call but just flag them is easier

  3. Guadalajara  taxi services are more expensive than in Mexico City, but not much. Yes you can call for a taxi to pick you up just ask for the nearest "SITIO DE TAXIS" and their telephone, also there are taxis that rent their services by day in every major hotel. It will cost you from 400 pesos to less than a 1000 depending on the hours. Taxis are everywhere in GDL, so there should be no problem.

In Guadalajara there is not cars that run like buses, those are call COLECTIVOS, and only exists in very small cities or airports now.

  4. i dont now the price in guadalajara but is cheaper than us., and no they dont pick a lot of people you ask for a taxi in the street and its yours.... just ask in the hotel how much is a taxi because some of them cheats you and try to recivable more...also you can talk with one on the street and try to make a deal.

In Mexico city a taxi from the streets is about 5 or 7 pesos since you get in and every 250meters or 45 sec is .78 and .96 cents. and also there are someone like in US this ones are save and every hotel have and the cost goes from 20 pesos for 4km to 110 pesos for 45 km.

Or profressionals ones for one hour between 110 to 250 pesos according the hour.

but remember mexico city isnt cheaper, also if you take a taxi in the street check the license plate the taxis have a different one, some of them uses the ones of a normal car and they dont have permit to work as a taxi.... have a nice trip!!!
