  1. Umm Don't worry about that stuff while in spain.  The spainards don't or since you're going to barcelona i should say the catalunians don't stress about it.  Just wear what you bring.  What you should think about.... is what time of the year are you going? so you can dress for the weather.

Just don't worry about what brands people wear, it will ruin your trip.

  2. Hi Paula,

What I noticed is the young people wore their clothing really tight, especially compared to kids in the U.S.   Sorry I don't know the brands they were wearing.

Girls tops showed the middle frequently, and were cool for the summer heat.

Don't take any white shoes, only the Americans wear them.  Colorful shoes were worn by all the Spaniards, whether flip flops or tennis shoes.

Pick pockets are a HUGE problem in Barcelona.  If you can, get a money belt you can wear inside your clothes, so you can keep your money and valuables safe.  Lots of tourist have their wallets taken out of their purses and even the front pocket of their pants.  Also, make a copy of your passport and carry that with you when you are out and about.  Leave your passport in your room safe if you have one.

All that being said, you are going to have the time of your life!  Enjoy yourself, have a great trip.

  3. You don't have to 'dress up' like in England, people dress up just for shopping nowadays!

Be casual, and just wear what you normally wear.

It's better so stand out than fit it!

  4. Pretty close to the same as in the US.  Maybe a bit less casual, but when I was there, it seemed a bit more casual than the rest of Spain...more people in flip flops, etc.  You won't be likely to own any of the same BRANDS, but here's a catalog you can look at, and see what you have that would match up.

  5. It depends on the teen.

The two types of dressing I normally see in Spain is either light rockish or medium girly.

Jeans with a wide wide flaired leg is also very very popular in Spain amongst the teenagers...

Abercrobie and fitch is a good trend in the beaches of spain.

    Otherwise, you'll be fine.

YOu don't need to fit in exactly...:)
