Question:

How do the GI bill work

I want to enlist in the Army with a 4 years active and 4 years inactive contract as a firefighter because I like about 2 hours away from Fort McPherson. After my 4 years of active duty, do I then get to go to college(I want to be a lawyer)? I don't completely understand it. I will be a senior in high school next year, and there is no way I will be able to pay for college so I figure the Army would be a good solution. Thanx in advance.

  1. After you complete 3 years of active duty, you will receive full GI Bill benefits. All you have to do is be enrolled in a program that grants a degree or certificate and then fill out the appropriate paperwork. You will fall under the new GI Bill benefits which should cover the costs of most reasonably priced schools.

  2. You can learn all about the new GI Bill for you here..

Just be sure you understand that you will have to serve your country and that may include being shipped to places you might not want to be in..
