In summary - the higher and more consistently a player finishes in the tournaments, the more points he amasses - but that points total can also decrease if the player's game begins to go off the boil. Winners of Majors receive 100 points, with 60 for 2nd place, 40 for 3rd and so on down to 1.50 points awarded to a player who completes the final round. The next most prestigious tournament is deemed to be the BMW PGA Championship, which grants a minimum of 64 points to the winner, and a minimum of 24 points are available to the winner of European and US tour events.
