After the war there, is there a lot of ill-will towards the US? I am fascinated by Viet Nam and would like to learn more about it.

  1. little if any,

once while waiting for a train in north viet nam i had a motor bike driver tell me he hated americans but during my very long waite he re approach me many times with friendly and polite conversation. another time by the beach in nha trang a woman upon finding out i was american  took both my hands in hers , gently told me , "americans killed my parents" shook my hand the turned and walked away. considering the past , consideing the hundreds of people ive met all over vn, thats not too bad.......

  2. who cares, i lost a lot of good buddies over there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  3. Well, with all the misery and the slaughter the Americans caused in Vietnam, one would think the Vietnamese detest them with a passion. But for some reason they don't -they must be a very forgiving people!

Sadly Americans never learn and they are engaged in the same disgusting and vile behaviour in Iraqi now-doubt if the Iraqis will be as forgiving!

Americans will be hated in the Middle East for decades... but they never learn .Its all this stupid, pathetic "Hey, lets kick some butt, man" Yank attitude...

Problem is Americans think they are good at war-they are not!

They are good at firepower, which is a different thing... as the countless thousands of civilians they have killed with their gung ho, trigger-happy bullshit can verify.

Still looking at American politics, all you have to do is rant on about Patriotism and God for long enough and any moron can get elected.

Welll,... Look at Bush who can hardly string more than 3 words together..I rest my case!!

  4. Think about this. 70% of the Vietnamese are under 30 years old. That means they were not born when the Vietnam war took place.  I lived there for two years and many would say "It's history but my grandfather talks about it"

They talk about "American time" --be on time and "American quality" - good quality.

When I was there, college kids were asked to name the top three famous men. *#1 was Ho Chi Minh  #2 was  Gen Giap (the general who won both the French and the Amercan wars) #3 was Bill Clinton

They love us.  And we should love them - great people

  5. THEY LOVE THE US OF A EXPECIALLY NOW THAT US INVESTMENT DOLLARS ARE COMING IN, THEY ALWAYS WELCOME AMERICANS AND THE GREEN BUCKS. THEY LOVE IT THERE SO MUCH THE PUT ON THE RED CARPET EVERYTIME THEY SEE AMERICANS COMING.

  6. y u want to know? u plan to go back to Vietnam?

  7. first of all, it's Vietnamese, no Viet Namese.

second, it is hard to say that people still feel ill-will towards the US now but there were probably a handful back then.

my parents have nothing against the US. this is the place that gave them and myself options and freedom. i guess we cant complain but we are unhappy with bush
