How do the centuries go by when u say it.?

ex: 1700-1800 means eighteenth century?

The way I always remember it is: when saying it, it's always 1 larger than the century.  For example...1700-1799 is the 18th century.  (18 being one larger than 17..)  So we're currently living in the 21st century since its 2008.  1800-1899..19th century.
