  1. Someone tells them that the top light is red the middle is green and the bottom is yellow and they memorise it.not sure if thats the right order though.

  2. The top light is always red,

the middle light is always yellow, and,

the bottom light is always green.

  3. Don't get the impression that color blind people see in black and white. There are different levels/types of colorblindness. But anyways, it's as simple as knowing which light is on. ALL traffic lights are set up in the same way. RED>YELLOW>GREEN

So all you need to know is which light is on

Also certain lights have shapes to them...

  4. It is the international standard adopted by most countries which requires all traffic signals to be either green on the bottom or green on the left side.  so no matter what degree of color vision problems they can tell.  Just as all traffic signs are regulated not only in color but is shape such as the octogonal stop sign

  5. People who are color-blind can do normal stuff, even drive. Most color-blind people can't tell the difference between red or green, but they can learn to respond to the way the traffic signal lights up. The red light is generally on top and green is on the bottom.

  6. If the lights are one above another, red is on top and green on the bottom.

if the lights are next to each other (horizontally), red is on the left and green is on the right.

But what does someone do if they are both color blind and dyslexic?

  7. It is not often that when a person is color blind they cant see any color.. but lets say someone sees only black and white they would jus learn the position of the lights... red is the light on top then yellow and green on bottom.

  8. they are color blind, so they learn that the bottom light means go, the middle light means prepare to stop/slow down, the top light means stop. they dont learn colors for the lights, just which light is lit up.
