Question:

How do the lunar rovera and other equipment look on the moon all these yrs later?

will they still look like they day we left the moon for the last time in 1972 or would they have aged can the lunar rovers still be able to run if they recharge the batterys cant wait until november 08 when they plan to send a robot to the moon to check these old sites out

  1. They're dusty and slightly pitted by micrometeorite impacts. Whether they would still run with a fresh battery is uncertain. Metal parts in contact with each other in a vacuum tend to 'weld' to each other, so perhaps not.


  2. I would assume they're fairly intact, but possibly littered with small holes due to small metorites hitting the surface of the moon.

    Since, there's no atmosphere to render any sort of rusting effect, they're probably as shiny as they were when they left earth.

    In 1967, Nasa sent a lander on the moon called Surveyor 3. In 1969, the lander was recovered by Apollo 12 astronauts; the lander was sent back to earth to examine and answer the question you're asking.
