I heard that the streets of London were under survallience all the time and the police used this to solve crimes. How do people truly feel about being monitored so closely?

  1. I´m OK with it, as I don´t have anything to hide from the cameras...

  2. Its not just London, many cities and towns have cctv these days. It does help to solve crimes/catch criminals, so its a good thing!!!! EDIT Teddy, its solved quite a lot in my neck of the woods, one very very close to home!!!!! Dont pull me up for my opinion, i was answering the question!, and  have good reason for answering it as i did!!!!!

  3. Its not just London, I live on the outskirts of Leicester, from leaving my home to drive the mile into the city centre I have counted 12 camara's.  Some people say if you have nothing to hide its not a problem, well I have nothing to hide and it is a problem!  Why should we be spied on all the time, is nothing private anymore?  Solve crime my a**e!

  4. Not just London. Great Britain is the most scrutinised nation on the planet - CCTV everywhere, and if they are reducing crime, I'm not sure how, as they are pushing it away from those areas.  Excellent for monitoring anti-social behaviour, oh! yes and that other dangerous outlaw the UK motorist.  But the scary crime, the stuff that keeps you awake at night? Not stopping the knife crime that's gripping our nation with fear at the moment.

Remember civil liberties in this country are being eroded almost monthly now.  This country's legal system was based on habeus corpus - innocent until proven guilty by one's peers.  The 42 day rule has almost knocked that out.  Basically, the cameras are the least of our worries...and no this not Big Brother nonsense, this is just cold hard legal fact!

  5. disgusted that they have been allowed to get away with it.

All you hear from politicians and some others is well if you have nothing to hide, why worry, well i have done nothing wrong, so why should i be monitored at any point. I think that's it more  Stalinist than anything. And now e mails can be accessed and phones tapped, what the h**l happened to our country, and the people are just sitting by and taking it.

Duimand    no not just central London and certainly nothing to do with the politicians, they have security all the time, so why do they need to be spied on, like the rest of us. In one street i know there are 57 cameras, on some shops, others dotted around, what the h**l for.

Gemini     no it doesn;t help with catching crooks, the police stats show little evidence of CCTV footage being of real value.

  6. if that is the case why r there so many incidents of stabbing.

probably central London is monitored more, because it is to do with protection of MP's and Royalty and certain institutions and buildings.

And as the majority of normal working people live on the outskirts of London it would only affect them if they go into Central London.

If it is used to solve crimes, fine, but is it? or just for protection of the chosen few.

  7. I feel uncomfortable at times. To feel that my movements are being documented. It feels like an evasion of my privacy. Though i know and understand why the cameras are stationed there. But i can't fathom why there are so many......
