I am a native american. My aunt said my grandmother came from Derry or Kilken-something like that? I know there's more to that last town name. My father was in the Korea War and while he was stationed somewhere in Ireland or Germany he had a daughter from an Irish Lady? You land is so vast that even trying to begin where to search would probably give me a headache. Not that I would'nt love to find this girl but It would be a miracle. My dads last name was Miner. And his Mothers last name was Vasser. So this little girl would be half Sioux and would be a very rich little girl!??! I' guessing age about 45-47yrs old.

  2. Your question seems to have 2 issues. Your grandmother is the first one..what is needed for her are some specifics as to her birth and death.  I have to assume that she died at a place that you can find? It may be that you need to 'hook' into records concerning her child and when/where that child was born.  The obvious route to that is her death certificate (which normally will include the name(s) of both her parents).

Regarding a child from your father.. your option is to obtain his military records, which would include specifics on where he was stationed, and when. Once you pin down a location, your next step is to investigate sources in that locality.  A daughter may/ may not have remained in that area.

With the internet, it is possible to do many things. I am aware of a relative in Norway.  My (step) grandmother left there in the 1890s, but she kept in touch with relatives there, for many years.  The cousin in Norway uses the internet now, and was able to post online within the last few years, and succeeded in locating family here in the US.  The same is true for many children born from marriages/ relationships that date back to WW2 or other times.

If you can post some specifics relating to your grandmother, we may be able to find further info for you, or help you to find it.

  3. I didn't know there were Native Americans here having been to the us, numerous times and never meeting any there, I don't think anyone has a problem. The name you're thinking of is Kilkenny and Kilkenny and Derry are at opposite ends of Ireland. Good luck.
