How do the people who work in Milk Producing Companies know when milk will spoil?

  1. They probably timed it, so every mild bottle/carton has a set amount of time. Although, its not always acurate, they sometimes put a date on it about 4-6 days before it goes off to protect themselves legally. (Im not saying drink milk after its use by date)


  2. Are you basing this assumption on the expiration date they put on the carton?

    Or is there more to it?

    Ok I think thats what you mean going by the answer below.

    Thats not controlled by the milk company. Thats controlled by the FDA.

    They have a set date ie( let's say its 10 days for pasteurized) so the company puts 10 days from the day it was packaged ( with ultrapasteurized, same rule but the date is 4 or 5 times that of the pasteurized).

    Milk companies are contolled by the FDA and DOA.
