I've noticed this past week during Wimbledon that some matches last only 2 sets while others go on to 3 or more. how does it work?

  1. Females can go a maximum of three sets with the first one to win two sets winning. With males it's the best 3 of 5. Each set it made up of games with the first one getting to 6 winning, but you must win by two games, which is why you will see some going into tie breaks.

  2. Wimbledon, like other Slams, men have to win 3 sets out of 5 set format, and 2 sets for women out of 3 sets.

  3. women play three sets  so the winner is the one who wins two of the three sets

men play five sets so the winner naturally is the one who wins three sets of the five
