  1. Amnesty Internatinal looks for injustice and does all they can do to fight it/make it right; the UN just sits on their *** when they see injustice.

  2. The primary difference is that the United Nations (UN) is a multi-government organization, and Amnesty International (AI)is a non-government organization (NGO).  Also, AI has a narrow focus, while the UN has a much broader function.

  3. They are organizations who are independent from each other and have some different purposes.

Amnesty International campaigns for human rights worldwide. They were first based in England around 1961, although now operates independently of any country.

The United Nations replaced the League of Nations in 1945 to assist nations in avoiding war.  However they now influence law, economics, and human rights globally.

With the commonalty of human rights they both share, the difference would be that the United Nations has (for better or worse) more politics associated with their actions, due to political appointments from member nations.

  4. The UN and Amnesty are separate organisations, but, as has already mentioned, they work cooperatively with one another.

Anmesty's focus is primarily on humanitarian issues, human rights etc.

The UN, who functions in a variety of different fields - development, peacekeeping etc. - works in conjunction with the humanitarian functions of Amnesty.
