How do they asses overseas qualifications in uk?

Universities have a list of equivalents for most countries. Obviously results from countries that take GCSE and A Level exams don't need to be converted.

If you mean that if you are in the UK with qualifications from abroad, how do they check them?

I dont think they do, unless you are going for a very important high powered job then they might.
