I don't want to sound like a noob. Do they use more than one camera, all at different angles, not filming each other do they shoot it again, from a different angle?

  1. Yes, multiple cameras are used, as well as multiple takes of the same scene in which they can reposition the cameras if the original shot doesn't look good.

  2. They do one, the other, or both, depending on what we're talking about.

For live TV, the only option is multiple cameras. Several cameras film from different angles and the director chooses which angle he wishes to show on the screen at which moments, and decides what kind of live transitions there are between the shots.

For movies and pre-recorded shows, they use both multiple cameras and multiple takes. For example, a calm, quiet indoors scene will only require one camera to film, and many takes from different angles will be used. For action shots, however, where repeating the scene multiple times is harder to do, many cameras will be used simultaneously (for example, in a car chase scene there can be multiple chase cameras, cameras inside the cars and cameras on the side of the road).

So it all depends for what purpose they are filming.
