Like I've heard a lot of times, you get the letter and then you find out you didn't get picked. What determines whether you get picked or not?

  1. the harder you try to get out of it, the lawyers will sit there and want you for as an alternate for the jury........you get all the hassle of jury duty and get no say in the outcome......not the best of both worlds...

  2. The lawyers - you go in for an interview with the judge and lawyers from both sides there and they decide whether they want you.

They decide based on whether they think you will agree with them or not.  Each side has the chance to raise objections against the other sides picks.

For example, if it is a rape case, the prosecution would like jury members who have a rape victim in their family, and the defence would not.

  3. How much bullcrap lipservice you give to the false belief that you can "really" be objective and "honor the notion the defendant is innocent until proven guilty", which is irrelevant, as we need to fill up our "public-housing projects" not because it has anything to do with crime and punishment, rather it's to relieve a depressed economy...happy christmas!
