Question:

How do they determine the numbering system for houses?

I have noticed that in some neighborhoods in our city the numbers for houses go every 6th number: 1982, 1988, 1994 etc.

In our neighborhood which is all duplexes they go by 4's: 5516, 5520, 5524 etc.

What's up with that? How do they determine what numbers to use?

  1. See this web site:en.wikipedia/wiki/House_numbering.

  2. That's an interesting article on Wiki.

One of the streets I was on today, they jumped by 10 and all ended in 6.

The county east of here is bizarre.  The numbers usually, not not always, run sequentially, but make no effort to keep left and right side in synch, for example    310, 317, 320, 319,334, 321, 327, 350, 333, ...   It makes navigation quite difficult.
