I mean, I know they fry them...but is there a special sauce they use to give them an extra sweet taste?

  1. 4 sheets filo dough

    4 ripe bananas (peeled)

    1/2 cup red bean paste

10g yuzu peel (sour Japanese citrus fruit)

    icing sugar

4 tbsp kuromitsu (black sugar syrup)

Filo pastry also spelled phyllo pastry is a common baking ingredient that is found in most Mediterranean cuisine and can be bought fresh or frozen. Be careful when using these sheets as they can become dry and brittle if left out in the open for too long. Cover sheet with a damp paper towel or cloth if not using.

NOTE: If yuzu or kuromitsu cannot be found, subsitute with orange peel or brown sugar syrup respectively

  2. They coat them in Tempura breading then deep fry them. The bananas become slightly sweeter when cooked. I've never seen any sauce, except chocolate, added.

  3. They use powdered sugar sometimes in the tempura batter.
