  1. I guess enamel.

Someone will know and then we can both find out!

Actually I think Wiki will have the answer but cant be bothered to read through > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billiard_ba...

  2. the balls are made from solid pieces of coloured resin, which are sanded and polished into the round balls we play with. the balls used in Europe and Australia are one solid colour, which are easier to make, and instead of solids and stripes (with numbers) only red and yellow balls are used. the only ball with a number is the 8 ball. they are also a smaller size and weight to those used in the USA, and it takes some time, and a different, smaller tipped cue to adjust to this.

the American balls are made in stages,as there are three sections which are joined to make the stripes, and two sections to the solids. a solid ball is formed with a hole, into which white resin is poured, and the numbers are pressed into this, and later coloured. the stripes are made of three parts.two white ends, and a coloured centre piece, again with a hole filled with white resin, into which the numbers are pressed. these are joined, sanded smooth, and polished untill round. the only paint, as such, on the balls is to make the numbers stand out, and older balls can be found where this paint has fallen out or faded.

  3. Colored resin and #s are printed on with epoxy based color then the clear top coat to seal them

  4. The high quality balls are made of colored phenolic resin.

  5. i supose they put them into containers of paint and then drain the excess paint at the end and then dry them

  6. It`s a dye and it`s mixed into the resin that the balls are made from.

  7. I wish i knew too!!

at a guess, i reckon they are solid.. not painted

im not even sure what they're made of!
