I'm just curious. I'm watching the Bobby Cutts hearing, and wondering how they pick people for jury duty.

  1. by Driver's License.

  2. Random draw of people out of everyone who is registered to vote.  Then they narrow it down again in a random selection process.  If your number is picked you go to the court house and they do a jury selection process in which they ask you a series of questions.  Based on your answers the lawyers on both sides decide if they want you on the jury.

  3. Each jurisdiction has it's own process, however they are in general collected from the various list of people that the government collects. This can include voter registration lists, drivers license records, motor vehicle registrations, property tax roles etc.

  4. Voter registration lists.

  5. You get a letter sent to you, telling you you have to to court, (it's a random procedure)

  6. when i was picked for jury duty it came it was done off of voter registration , then each lawyer ask a series of questions and picks based on your answers

  7. a) Prospective jurors are chosen from voter registration or DMV lists.  You get a form telling you to call a number using a touch tone phone to register.  When you call, you're told what day to go to the courthouse.

    b) You register and go to the courthouse on your assigned day.

    c) You sit around in a room all day.  If a trial needs a jury, you are told to go to a courtroom.  There, the lawyers will ask you questions.  If neither of them boots you, then you're on the jury.
