  1. http://www.insidehoops.com/olympics.shtm...

That website has a list of the coaching staff, I'm sure they all played a part in picking the team.

I think the main thing with this squad was to have balance over star power. The "Dream Teams" of the 90s (with Jordan, Miller, Malone, et. al) were filled with great players, but they also balanced out each others weaknessess. The '04 team had star power but a lot of the players were the same type of player (i.e. a scorer), and it was also the first Olympics for many of them and they definitely did not have the maturity it takes to bring home a gold.

But getting back to why a player like Tayshaun Prince is on the roster, the coaches are looking for players to step into a specific role. Prince, being tall enough at 6'9", can ideally guard the other team's best player. Similarly, Michael Redd made the cut because that '04 team lacked a shooter, and Redd is one of the NBA's best in that regard.

  2. tayshaun prince has great defense and all around contributes to his team. they pick the best of the best man. Jerry Colangelo serves as the managing director of the team and picked coach k of duke to lead the team and helped pick a wide variety of nba players that suit the job. they'll make many cuts and come up with a final decision.

  3. Prince is one of the most underrated players in the league.

  4. tayshaun prince is a good player but is underrated

  5. teshaun prince is very versatile player. he is a great defender and can guard anybody from the shooting guard position to power forward.

  6. he is good
