My upper ear piercing went halfway inside my ear, and is stuck. I can't get the backing off, and it went in diagonally. I was told to go to emergency, how do they remove it?

  1. I agree with the first answer, why are you waiting - get yourself to emergency to have it removed. If you do not have it removed now - you may end up with a severe infection and could loose part of an ear which would be far worse than worrying about having it removed.

I would imagine that they have the right sort of instruments to take it out such as tweezers etc to get the end off so that the other part can be removed

Why are you worrying about the removal - if its a difficult one they can give you some pain relief so that you don't feel it coming out anyway

Your question raises another in my mind and that is - How come you ended up with it this way - were you or friends doing it at home instead of going to a proper piercing place and having it done under sterile conditions.

Please note the part of what to do if an infection develops in the website below - especially the bit about seeking medical care immediately - if you act now you may not get an infection

  2. The ER people will use a pair of Forceps to clamp on to the earring and work it out of your ear.  It should only take a few minutes.

  3. why are you asking this again?
