When the Super Bowl or whatever is shown in France what do they say for yard? "Verge" works just fine in Quebec, but it implies p***s in France.

  1. It's part of the American measure system.  A yard doesn't even exist in France, like miles and inches, etc...  They use the metric system.  But yes, in Quebec you can say verges, we use both systems.  (I live in Quebec)

  2. "Un yard, deux yards, trois yards...".

"Verge" is nautical.  "Yard" is statutory.  English doesn't seem to differentiate between the two.

  3. don't care

just watch the game you'll learn that the word yard is only in this country's national language

    36inch in a yard

or metric 39inches in a meter

    you can figure it out

  4. Why would they need the word yard in a country that uses the metric system?

  5. Do they even play football in France?
