those roads have those cool reflectors on them, the road looks lit up when driving down it at night, looks cool. does that also mean that snowplows are not allowed down there? what if it snows, would the plow tear those magnets up, and if not, the north needs to put those magnets down as well

  1. Whats Snow? Ive never seen it. No, seriously there is really no use for them here.(Texas) at least where I live. They would just idle for years and years rusting away and wasting tax dollars. They put salt on the roads to melt it if it ices.

  2. Most people who lived in the north & moved south took their snow shovel with them. They would stop along the way asking people what is this shovel? When no one knew what it was, they knew they were in the south.

  3. Our attitude---- God put it there,  let God take it away.

  4. If you look close along the bottom of a plow blade; you'll see that the part that touches the road is rubber - not metal however, you also need to know that many plows are used so that they don't actually touch the road at all. Instead, the heighth is set about an inch or less above the road. Why? So that there is no damage to the plow blade because of manhole covers that stick up from the road due to poor road re-paving. Anyway, the big stuff (snow) gets pushed to the side and only a slight bit of snow remains on the road, and that is treated with sand, salt, cinders, saw dust, etc.

  5. The reflectors are placed in little shallow divots carved in the roadbed when they pave it so they don't get torn up by the snowplows.  They're used in the dividing lines in highways here in northern California and we get plenty of snow up here and the snowplows are absolutely essential!  lol!

  6. We do not have snowplows in the south. We do not get much snow and when we do they salt/cinder the roads. Also, in the rare event we get any, it is usually melted by noon! About once a decade we get a blizzard. The last one in my town was in 1993. We got 23 inches in 24 hours.  The entire town was closed for 3 days! Also, electricity was off for a week because the trees fell on so many lines. The trees fell because they never get that kind of weight on them and it was more than they could handle.  Weird isn't it? When i lived up north we would get much more snow and it would not slow down anything. Big difference here!

  7. Uhm, up north we have those reflectors at well.  They're usually put down in construction zones to show where the yellow line is at, but i've seen them in other places as well.  I never thought about what happens when the snowplow goes over them!

  8. What's a snowplow?
