  1. I read somwhere that thunderstorms often occur at the end of hot, sticky summer days. At this time, warm moist air rises quickly and forms large cumulonimbus clouds. Inside these tall dark clouds, air currents create strong updraughts and water droplets and ice particles rub against each other. As they bang together like this, it causes a build-up of static electricity. Lighter, positive charges gather at the top of the cloud and heavier, negatively-charged pieces of ice and water accumulate at the base. The ground below is also positively charged. Electricity flows between the charges and the difference between them increases. When the differences get big enough, they are neutralised and electricity is released as a flash of lightning

  2. The reason why lightning is always accompanied by thunder is because the thunder is caused by the bolt of electricity produced in a lightning strike. The deep rumbling and sharp cracks of thunder are produced as the air around the lightning bolt is super heated—up to 60,000 degrees Fahrenheit (33,315 C)—and rapidly expands. As the air cools and contracts, it creates a shock wave which manifests itself as thunder. The closer the lightning is, the louder the clap of thunder will be.

Before science could provide an explanation based on scientific data in the 20th century, the cause of thunder was undetermined, and a matter of much dispute. Early Greeks believed it was caused by clouds colliding. Other theories include vacuums, exploding gases and steam. Thor, a god of Norse mythology is named for the Old Norse word for thunder, and is nearly always portrayed wielding a thunder clapping hammer.

Over 100,000 thunderstorms are recorded every year but only a small percentage is considered “severe” by the National Weather Service. Thunderstorms are capable of producing dangerous lightning, tornados, strong winds, hail and heavy rain, which can lead to flash flooding. Although thunder can be frightening for some, and a few people actually suffer from astraphobia, the fear of thunder, it is helpful to regard it as a warning that lightning is near.

  3. When the water evaporates they form cloud. Cloud is thin initially, later they condense together depends on the terrain they are moving, Now they are charged + and -ve.

When the strong winds move even though they travel together , but because of the difference in mass and speed the differently charged clouds come into contact and lightening happens.

Thunder, is the noise created by lightening, sound waves travel slower than the light

so you see lightening first and hear thunder later

  4. it is basically a matter of potential difference which leads to corona discharge the leader charge (generally -ve) hits the earth then a discharge of electrons from surface of earth moves into clouds which is the light you see.

  5. clouds contain +ve n -ve charges when they hit each other a spark occures. This is how lightening n thunderstorm occur

  6. lightening occurs due to high pressure made up in the atmosphere while thunder occurs due to +ve n -ve charge of the cloud.

  7. 'Negative' and 'Plus',  of the 'clouds' !

  8. Thunders & lightenings occur when two clouds club or dash each other. When they dash each other a positive & negative charges on each cloud. These become positive &negfative terminals. we know that if a current is created it genetrally has tendency to flow to earth. now i remember an accident created in similar way just by a T-shirt. A celibrity wore a shirt & a silk coat. this shirt & coat have such a potential difference that they created a current that burnt a carpet.

  9. as far as i know lightings  are occuring thousand number of times every minute or may be second.Reason!!! still considered mysterious by scietists.

There are numerous other things that also occur like light ball...yes light ball which u might have seen as toys but they move very fast in the atmosphere, reason not still identified

    we'll together try to find

One must tell, they are huge source of power if trapped!!

  10. In brief...

Due to potential difference. Different groups of clouds have either negative or positive charges. So current electricity produces and lightning occurs. Sometimes those single charge static electricity is also attracted by earth surface and lightning falls on earth

  11. clouds carry elektric charges.when dey dash with one another,it creates a brilliant white flash of light..

    creatin noise and lightning..
