Like the others said... just google it. If it's for a research project, you should be doing the research.

That said, we can't answer all your questions without knowing where you live. For example, the cost of adopting in the US far exceeds the cost of adopting in Canada. Plus the laws and legislations are totally different. (IE: Private adoptions are illegal in Canada but I think they're legal in the US, at least in some states.)

Read some pasts posts and you'll learn about the risks of adoption - mainly birth parents wanting their child back, etc.

It's a long process. From Social security comes and checks out your house before and when the baby comes for security and makes sure the kid is in a safe environment!
