How do u become a teacher if ur already a paraprofessional?

i want to know how a pre-kinder teacher aid can become a teacher. My mom has been a teacher aid for about 8 years and needs to know about any possible ways to become a teacher without having to go all 4 years. are there any programs? how do u start?

The best people to ask are those who set the rules where you live.  In the US, each state has some kind of state board of education that sets the rules.  Many places have developed "alternative licensure" requirements and/ or scholarships for paras to become teachers.  The requirements will be very locale specific.

First step:  Call the state board of education or its equivalent.  Get the rules and the help from people who set the rules.

You could also ask about scholarships at the same time.  Many places offer them to paras going on to be teachers.

Sorry, but unless she has prior college credits, she will have to go to school for four years like any other teacher.  Any short-cut programs would be considered inferior and could cause her problems in finding a job.
