I mean using a trap. I put one in a stream which I now has crawfish as I have hand caught them. I used a minnow trap with a piece of bacon attached in it so they had to go in the trap to get it. Nothing! This was in Grand Rapids area.

  1. I just put on a good tempered glass diving mask & dive in water 5ft to

10ft deep, looking under rocks, catch them & put them in an plastic

icecream bucket with small holes drilled into it.

  2. Catch them the same where you do anywhere else....

First are you sure that the place you were trying to catch them in has a good crayfish population?

I would try using a dead bluegill - cut it in half and put half of it in your trap.  Also you can do what many other people do... look under rocks for them - lifting the rocks very slowly - snakes could be a hazard so watch out for them.  I've had better luck though in ponds or lakes, look for a rocky area and try your trap there - then you can start looking under rocks and stuff - remember they swim backward - so lift the rocks slowly and look under them...

  3. First, I suggest seeing if you need a license. The State of Michigan DNR website  http://michigan.gov/dnr should have informtion under fishing regulations.

I was able to find this study for a pond

watch out for racoons and snapping turtles
