  2. Here in the UK because of the DPA, the staff at the cemetery office are unable to disclose this kind of information. You will have to find out from the next of kin who owns the plot. If you do find out who owns the plot/deeds then the only way to change ownership of the plot/deeds is through a solicitor. I have recently taken over ownership of my gr/gr/grandparents grave.

  3. I had this problem. I went to the cemetery where the grave was, and asked in the office. They gave me all the information I needed. As it was, the name was of a living relative, but I could sign a disclaimer saying they had no interest in the grave and I could take it over as long as I'd relinquish ownership if the living relative ever wanted to use it. Not sure what would happen if the grave was in a church yard. Perhaps the church official would hold the same information.

  4. You can also check with your town or county clerks office and see if they have the records.
