Well first I guess it would be better to tell you what not to do.

Common no nos: Do not use a t-shirt, or paper towel. Those can actually scuff the disc surface, and paper towels also leave lint. Do not use Windex or any other household cleaners. Especially those with ammonia. It can damage the coating of the disc and 'cloud' it. Don't use cheap disc cleaner kits... trust me... you get what you pay for and they have the potential to do more harm than good. Do not clean the disc in a circular fashion.

Better solution: A simple solution of highly diluted isopropyl alcohol and distilled water, used with a chamois cloth or a microfiber cloth for cleaning glasses. A really soft cotton cloth could also work. Clean from the inside edge, out... don't rub back and forth and as I said above, don't rub along the direction of the tracks/circular.
