  1. If you are the ajax from caulfield then the way in victoria to get drafted is to get invited to try out for the rep squads (the league rep team, msjfl) or u/18 TAC cup squads. (sandringham dragons, oakleigh chargers etc.). If you are good enough and get noticed by the scouts in these TAC cup games you go on to get picked to play for vic country or vic metro against other states. Then if you are in the best 22 players in the u/18 state comp you get picked for the all Australian team. You also get invited to the draft camp where you are tested and tested against another 80 odd blokes. Then the scouts from afl clubs will look at you and you may or may not get picked up in the draft.

  2. i dont know what AJAX is but I assume it is a local team.  you get drafted by playing for your local team in your states football league (VFL, SANFL etc) and if you are good enough you get invited to draft camp where you may be chosen by an AFL team.

  3. You play well consistently and wait to be noticed.

  4. The player must be registered and play at least one game with a club in an AFL affiliated competition (most leagues apart from School competitions are AFL affiliated), as well as being of eligible age (this year, the player must be 17 on or before April 30th this year, next year and onwards, the player must be 18 on or before December 31st of the draft year) to be eligible to be drafted.

Draft registration forms will be available, online from the AFL website and from your TAC Cup/VFL/SANFL/WAFL clubs, towards the end of the season. Once you nominate. Registering for the draft makes you eligible for 3 years, after that you must re-register. This year's key draft related dates are listed here: http://www.afl.com.au/News/NEWSARTICLE/t...

To get to a state screening day or the AFL draft camp, an AFL club must officially register their interest in you.  Whilst you can still get drafted if you don't get to draft camp and/or play amateur football (as long as the competition is affiliated with the AFL) e.g. Jimmy Gwilt (EFL/St Kilda) and Karl Norman (Ovens and Murray/Ex-Carlton), your best bet by far is to play in the AFL U18 National Championships, as well as/or at least play in (one of) the TAC Cup/WAFL/WAFL Colts/SANFL/SANFL U19s/VFL - if you crunch numbers, this is where almost all draftees come from (99%+) - as recruiters/scouts from AFL clubs will definitely have an opportunity to see you play (if you've never had a recruiter/scout seen you play/talk to you then you won't get recruited - simple as that).

  5. why don't you contact your local major afl club and find out?

  6. there is a form/application  can fill out to try get into the draft training camp towards the end of the year. you might find the form on the afl site

  7. Apply to play in next years EJ Whitten Legends Game and see if you can shut Straughnie down. That'll get the AFL scouts attention. :)

  8. well it depends really were u live heres a website that should help

  9. I'm pretty sure most kids play in the TAC cup competition first. Most of the time VFL players are guys who aren't quite good enough to play AFL, hence why they're often referred to as the 'reserves team'.

A guy I knew played for the Sandringham Dragons then got drafted into the AFL. I don't know if AJAX is in that league?

  10. You have to be good at Aussie Rules.

    Good luck.
