  2. There are "early exit" fees in most all contracts.  Depending upon the contract age, this can be substantial and almost as much as if you kept the phone service.

    If you have legitimate performance issues you may be able to get them to terminate for nonperformance.  Usually they will run tests to see if they work and then require you to live up to the contract.

    As with all contracts, you are entering a two sided agreement.  It binds them to provide a service for a duration.  You are bound to pay for the service for the duration.  That is what a contract is.  This is the adult world, you are not dealing in a fairytale world and no white knight will enable you to unfairly invalidate your agreement.  Keep this in mind whenever you take out a contract.
